NEW STANDARDS ENGINE WITHIN SUNBURST'S QUICKMIND.NET
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT PROVIDES THE HIGHEST STANDARDS
ALIGNMENT POSSIBLE FOR ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES
Teachers who use QuickMind.net can easily correlate
their lessons to state standards
and prove to administrators that their lessons are correlated
ORLANDO, March 22, 2006 - At the annual Florida Educational Technology
Conference today Sunburst Technology announced that its QuickMind.net
online learning environment has a powerful new standards engine that adds
great value to the product for teachers and administrators. The standards
engine provides up-to-date standards for all 50 states in the U.S. and
aligns the lowest level benchmark for each state to every activity and
resource in QuickMind.net. It provides the highest level of standard alignment
possible, which now makes QuickMind.net eligible for many types of federal
funding, such as Title I (disadvantaged students), Title II (teacher training),
Title III (ESL/ELL), Title IV (21st Century Schools), Title V (promoting
informed parental choice and innovative programs), Reading First, IDEA
and PT3.
The award-winning QuickMind.net is a powerful intervention tool
that offers educators in grades K to 12 a wealth of content from Sunburst's
library of classic titles, as well as over 20,000 organized and easy to
use online resources to enrich their classes. These include language arts,
math, science and social studies curricula. QuickMind.net provides
educators and students in grades K-12 with extensive lesson-planning,
homework and assessment resources at school, home or anywhere that they
have an Internet connection.
QuickMind.net makes it easy for teachers to correlate their lessons
to state standards by offering two different ways to display standards
-- standards to resources, as well as resources to standards. For example,
teachers can browse their state's standards, choose one by clicking on
it, and then see a list of all the resources within QuickMind.net
that address that specific standard. Or they can check to see which standards
a specific resource in QuickMind.net addresses as they are selecting
resources by clicking on it and viewing a list of standards. The product
also allows teachers to create their own alignments for content and share
those alignments with their district. With the standards readily on-hand
and aligned to each and every resource, teachers can also show curriculum
directors and administrators correlations for their classroom lessons
that use these resources. They can be viewed and printed as needed.

"No other product out there has QuickMind.net's level of alignment
functionality," said David Wolff, Sunburst Technology Senior Vice President.
"Our new standards engine will save teachers hours of time by having their
own state's standards at their fingertips and already aligned to all of
the resources within QuickMind.net. It also provides the solid
accountability they need for administrators."
Sunburst will continue correlating all future QuickMind.net content
to state standards. Its content enhancements to QuickMind.net are
ongoing and most recently include the addition of Math Pathways, a multimedia
mathematics curriculum for grades 6 to 12, and Geography Challenge, a
comprehensive, worldwide K-12 geography program.
QuickMind.net provides 24-hour access to standards-based curriculum,
interactive homework assignments, project templates, tools, lesson plans,
reference materials and online professional development via a password-protected
Web site. It is one of a select assortment of intervention solutions available
through Sunburst Technology's new "Sunburst Learning Solutions" educational
consulting program, dedicated to providing schools with student achievement
solutions for differentiated instruction. Sunburst Learning Solutions
