NEW CEO JOINS SUNBURST TECHNOLOGY

Addition of senior marketing and sales executive positions educational publishing and distribution company for significant growth in the K -12 educational technology market.

ELGIN, IL, Aug. 27, 2003 Ð Sunburst Technology Corporation announced today that it has hired Mark Sotir as its new chief executive officer. Sotir previously served as President and CEO of Budget Group as well as Group Marketing Manager at The Coca Cola Company. Sotir's mission is to expand on the market leadership position of the company and aggressively accelerate the growth of its brands. To accomplish this, he will focus on creating partnerships with new education technology vendors, making strategic acquisitions and guiding the development of new Sunburst-brand products.

Sotir is based at the company's headquarters in Elgin, Illinois and is responsible for its two business units -- Educational Resources and Sunburst Software. Educational Resources is the largest distributor of educational software materials in the education market. It serves more than 100,000 schools in over 16,000 school districts through a direct sales force, catalogs, and an e-commerce Web site. Sunburst Software develops and sells educational software programs for the K-12 market, including such well-known brands as Tenth Planet, HyperStudio® and Type to Learn®.

With a solid track record of leading sales and marketing efforts to drive profits for Fortune 500 companies, Sotir has nearly 20 years of experience to draw upon as he enters the education technology market. At Budget and Coca Cola, Sotir drove profitability and growth at divisions ranging from $60 million to over $1 billion in sales. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from Amherst College and a master's degree from Harvard Business School.

"The education technology market is a dynamic industry," said Sotir. "While my first priority of course is to continue to bring educators the best in educational technology, another goal is to help Educational Resources and Sunburst reach their full business potential. The companies offer some of the best products and services in the industry, and the opportunity for significant growth, both organically and through acquisitions, over the next year is excellent."

"Mark Sotir is a high-caliber executive, who has successfully managed high profile, multimillion dollar corporations," said Bob Battista, Sunburst Technology Executive Vice Chairman. "His addition to our company is a measure of the professional growth we expect in the near future. Mark will be a great asset to our already strong leadership team. These businesses are ready to grow to the next level in a market that is clamoring for leadership. Mark has all of the skills necessary to build our companies to their full potential."
