FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW STRATEGIST JOINS
EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
TO BUILD SALES TEAM AND CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Top education reseller
prepares for success as the exclusive reseller for sister company Sunburst
Technology's QuickMind.net online learning product
ELGIN, IL, Feb. 23,
2004 - Leading education reseller Educational Resources announced
today that it has hired education sales strategist Blaine Duggan as its
new director of national sales. Duggan's addition strategically coincides
with sister company Sunburst Technology's acquisition of the QuickMind.net
online learning environment. With a significant customer demand in the
education market for integrated, correlated, research- and Web-based products,
Educational Resources is in a prime position as the exclusive reseller
of the product and is gearing up for success. The company is the largest
distributor of educational software materials in the education market
and serves more than 100,000 schools in over 16,000 school districts through
a direct sales force, catalogs, and an e-commerce Web site.
With 25 years experience
in effective team building and leadership in sales, marketing, product
development and customer service, Duggan will focus on building a strong
sales team and school customer relationships for Educational Resources.
His work will promote the sale of QuickMind.net as well as several
other specialty products sold by Educational Resources including Brainchild's
Achiever® software line and Questia's Web-based general studies library.
"This is a critical
time of growth for Educational Resources," said Mark Sotir, chief
executive officer of Educational Resources and Sunburst Technology. "Sunburst's
QuickMind.net acquisition has opened a window of opportunity for
Educational Resources that we intend to take full advantage of. We will
devote all the resources necessary to ensure our success. Blaine's addition
and expertise will serve as a catalyst to drive our already strong sales
and marketing teams. He is self-motivated and results-oriented with a
proven track record in leadership and complex selling strategies."
"I couldn't resist
an opportunity to come back to Educational Resources," said Duggan.
" QuickMind.net is an excellent product and I look forward
to presenting it to schools. Launching the ClassWorks open learning
system for the company 10 years ago was one of the highlights of my career,
but I see even more potential in QuickMind.net . This is a highly
competitive market and the company's goals are aggressive, but I look
forward to the challenge of getting the results they want."
Duggan joined Educational
Resources from PLATO Learning Inc., where he served as director of strategic
initiatives. His career began at Prentice Hall Publishing Inc. during
its first technology co-venture with IBM. Since then, Duggan helped several
companies selling to the educational market reach their goals, including
Davidson Networks, NewsBank, Edunetics Corporation and Educational Resources.
During his previous
sales role at Educational Resources, Duggan helped transition a small-ticket
outside sales force into a conceptual, district-level selling team, introducing
the ClassWorks integrated learning system to the school market.
Under his leadership, ClassWorks sales grew from zero to $11 million
in just three years. Duggan holds a bachelor's degree in business administration
from West Georgia University.
