FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUNBURST TECHNOLOGY RELEASES NEW VERSION OF QUICKMIND.NET
ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR K-12 SCHOOLS
New version of QuickMind.net eases users'
navigation and ability to access lesson
planning, standards-based activities, assessment and reporting content,
and tools
NEW ORLEANS, June 21, 2004 - At the National Educational Computing Conference
today leading educational publisher Sunburst Technology presented a newly
designed version of the QuickMind.net online learning environment
for K-12 schools. After recently acquiring the award-winning QuickMind.net
in February, Sunburst immediately developed revisions that enhance the
product's usability by both students and educators.
The changes allow students to complete their QuickMind.net assignments
with easy access to standards-based activities, reports and tools. A new
design also enables teachers to effectively and easily develop assessments,
assign prescriptive content, and create online individualized educational
programs, while generating reports that track student activity. This new
version of QuickMind.net is the first phase of Sunburst's long-term
plan to upgrade and expand it, with more major updates to QuickMind.net
coming this fall.
"The evolution of the education market has resulted in several characteristics
that educators seek in a technology product: Integrated, correlated, standards-,
research- and Web-based," said Mark Sotir, Sunburst Chief Executive Officer.
"QuickMind.net supports educators with all of this and much more
to help them meet today's standards. Its Web-based format also makes it
convenient for us to publish new curriculum and educational materials
frequently and to immediately deliver updates to our customers that reflect
their current needs and interests, as we have just done."
QuickMind.net content is standards-based and correlated to each
state's standards to help educators and students meet "No Child Left Behind"
requirements and fulfill their school's learning standards. This powerful
resource provides integrated content in a convenient, subscription-based
Web environment that addresses the needs of today's educator. "QuickMind.net
is an outstanding product that has already won several prestigious educational
technology award competitions," said David Wolff, Sunburst vice president.
"Sunburst's goal is to raise it to an even higher level of excellence
and ease of use for our customers. We will continue to develop the product
to reach its full potential as the premiere online application used in
schools."
New Features
Since QuickMind.net is Internet based and there are no
CD-ROMs to burn or package, Sunburst is able to provide a unique product
that grows all the time. The product development is ongoing, and as new
activities and resources are created, they are automatically added to
the site. Educators never have to do anything to receive the next version
because it is all done seamlessly by the publisher, directly on the Internet.
QuickMind.net now features four separate student interfaces, redesigned
for age-appropriateness and quick, easy access to lessons. The interfaces
are for primary, elementary, middle and high school grade ranges. With
these new interfaces, navigation for students is engaging, clean and easy.
Also, they can now access all practice activities assigned by their teacher,
sorted by subject -- math, science, social studies and language arts.
And they can now view a listing of all completed activities by subject.
Revamped and enhanced teacher navigation allows for significantly improved
access to important QuickMind.net content and features. A new browse-by-standard
feature allows teachers one-click access to view and then assign to students
content that is directly correlated to state standards. This helps them
easily select lessons and activities that best meet their school's local
education standards.
Sunburst also added a variety of new content to QuickMind.net,
including robust reporting templates for administrators, principals, teachers,
students and parents. New state standards were added and existing correlations
were improved. The product's collection of exciting educational links
and Web-based lessons and activities was also significantly expanded.
